A2 - Liqui-Fire Pipe Thaw is formulated specifically for use on intake water lines or potable water.  Consumers use Liqui-Fire Pipe Thaw on fresh water intake lines, internal plumbing inside the walls, septic tanks, septic fields, and sewage lines.

A3 - Various ways of removing the water for particular applications are mentioned in the information below.
Removing standing water in intake lines. Liqui-Fire Pipe Thaw will work even if water is present but removal of standing water greatly increases the speed of water service restoration. Many of you suggested that your intake line was full of water. Some removed the water by shaking the line side to side. Others removed the water by sticking a broom handle into the end of their line. One customer said taping the end of a garden hose and inserting it displaced the most water.

A4 - The time required for Liqui-Fire Pipe Thaw to thaw your frozen lines will vary.  Some users notice a freeze up immediately, while others may have frozen water lines for days, weeks or even months. The internal freeze length within the frozen pipe is a factor that determines the required time to obtain water.  For Liqui-Fire Pipe Thaw users who notice a freeze up within 24 hours of its occurring, Liqui-Fire Pipe Thaw normally thaws your lines within 4 hours to overnight under normal conditions.

A5 - To have your water restored faster, use as much as possible, however one or two bottles generally is plenty.  Being without water causes tremendous stresses on relationships, and ends many good times.  Most people want their water restored immediately.  Maximum concentration of Liqui-Fire Pipe Thaw will shorten your wait. If frozen waterlines have been a problem in your area from time to time, keep a bottle of Liqui-Fire Pipe Thaw on hand in case of possible freeze ups and use as soon as possible when a freeze up is first detected. Consumers who have done so state that water was restored in substantially less time.

A6-1 - FOR INTAKE WATER LINES. This depends on the type of system being used, and the amount of time that the lines have been frozen.  For those who have a piston pump, or a turbine pump, it may be as simple as pouring Liqui-Fire Pipe Thaw into the priming port on the pump if the line has been sucked dry by the pump.  When a line has been frozen for an extended period of time, many users prefer to separate the union coupler on the intake water line. Shake Liqui-Fire Pipe Thaw vigorously before you pouring it in.  Others having a submerged pump and a tank setup, disconnect the tank to pour Liqui-Fire Pipe Thaw into the line at this point.

A6-2 - FOR WATER LINES WITHIN A DWELLING INCLUDING TOWN WATER FEED LINES
Step 1 - Open the highest and lowest valves or taps and the water will drain out.

Step 2 - Close the lowest valve or tap.

Step 3 - The highest valve or tap will be a shower or a kitchen style sink. Remove the shower head or sink spout. On a shower invert the goose neck to an upward position.

Step 4 - Shake Liqui-Fire Pipe Thaw vigorously before using, then pour Liqui-Fire Pipe Thaw into the gooseneck or spout opening.

Step 5 - restore the shower to it normal position or install the water spout on the sink.

Step 6 - Liqui-Fire Pipe Thaw will find the ice blockage and dissolve it. Periodically you can test to see if your water is restored. Please note however that the instructions state the water should be ran for 5 minutes once it is restored.  This moves any slush from the pipe and flushes out all traces of Liqui-Fire Pipe Thaw.

A6-3 - FOR SEWER AND SEPTIC LINES
Shake Liqui-Fire Pipe Thaw vigorously before using.  Liqui-Fire Pipe Thaw can be poured into a sink drain or a toilet.  It is not a drain cleaner but will dissolve the ice blockage.  If the dwelling occupants have been using the facility while it was frozen, standing waste will be present. It is recommended that a drain cleaner be used for this condition. When restored, flush with fresh water.  If your discharge line has ruptured, Liqui-Fire Pipe Thaw will stain the ground purple in appearance at the break eliminating the need to dig more then the break area.  In the spring, foliage in the break area may have a purplish appearance which aides to identify the break area.
