February 14, 2007 Upon receipt of this second letter from the attorney for Home Hardware Stores Ltd.
I made a telephone call to him. The telephone call is a matter of records on my phone bill. He spoke in a soft tone and his remarks and questions still ring in my ear. The first questioned he asked me was, "Is this blackmail?" I informed him that it wasn't as I had made no remark ever stating I would take money (cash or otherwise) in lieu of my silence. Secondly, he asked me, "Why would I want to damage Home Hardware Stores Ltd. reputation?" I still remember getting a strange feeling about this question. Home Hardware destroyed my business sales, product reputation, and years of customer patronage and now he was asking me this. It was as though he was referring to Home Hardware Stores Ltd. as though it was a person with feelings and not as a corporation which only interest is its bottom line. I had of course removed all business cards that I had placed on the 2 bulletin boards and also removed the notorious Happy Home Logo from my website. I remember while talking with Home Hardware Stores Ltd attorney, I was changing the logo to look different and posting them on my website for him to see. He disagreed with all of them and it demonstrated to me the level of tolerance given by this national goliath corporation. The document is a good read I think and worth the time for any university students studying law or business practices and ethics as outlined in the Competition Act. Conclusion: The attorney for Home Hardware Stores Ltd. informed me that I would have to remove any of the remarks on my website or legal action may be taken.
